What is life coaching?

Empowering yourself to take action and responsibility for how you want your life to be!

Helping you to build the skills and learning to tackle lifes challenges with energy and drive towards your goals.

Within each of us are the skills and resources needed to fulfil our individual potential. However, sometimes we just need some help to extract that key information. Coaching can help you sort through difficult issues and move forwards in a more positive way. It allows you the chance to focus on what is really important for your personally defined success and wellbeing and work towards achieving it.

Through the process of coaching people deepen learning, improve performance and enhance the quality of their lives. People who have been coached are generally more confident, true to themselves and comfortable with where they are and where they are going. They have experienced what it feels like to accomplish what they believed was difficult, to overcome challenges and become empowered and in charge of their lives.

‘We don’t know who we are until we see what we can do’

The Process

Coaching is very much client focused and driven. The interaction between coach and client essentially creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching accelerates the client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. The process concentrates on where the client is now and what they are willing to do to get to where they want to be in the future. By skilled listening and observation the coach is able to elicit solutions and strategies from the client. The coach can provide feedback and objectivity but the client is responsible for taking the steps needed to produce the identified desired results.

‘Character – the willingness to accept responsibility for one’s own life – is the source from which self respect springs’

It is a professional relationship which is a confidential partnership. It is a developing relationship that is relaxed and friendly yet challenging and supportive at the same time. Coaching however is NOT counselling or therapy and the distinction is important. Whereby counselling and therapy are based very much on reflection and exploration of past issues and events, coaching is present and future based and looks towards creating action. It is about working towards taking control in order to help create a more positive and healthy mental outlook and wellbeing.
